Men?s Swim and Dive Tied for First at Pac-10 Championships

Federal Way, Wash. ?- The No. 6 Arizona men’s swim team completed the first day of the 2006 Pac-10 Championships tonight, tied for first place with No. 3 California with 74 points while tallying two new school records. The Wildcats also won the 800 free relay, posting the first conference relay title in school history.


            Seniors Simon Burnett, Lyndon Ferns, Tyler DeBerry and junior Adam Ritter composed the first-place 800 free relay, setting a new Pac-10 meet record and a new school record with a time of 6:18.70.


            In the 200 medley relay, sophomore Albert Subirats, senior Dave Rollins, Ferns and Burnett finished second with a school record-breaking time of 1:25.76, posting the second NCAA automatic qualifying time of the evening.


            The men will be back in action tomorrow for day two of the Pac-10 Championships at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatics Center. Preliminary action will begin at 11 a.m. (PST) and finals will start at 6 p.m.
