Senior Bree Workman talks about the Gymcats first meet in Minnesota
With seven new freshman, 18 new routines and the desire to go out strong and show the country that Arizona Gymnastics is capable of being a force to be reckoned with, nerves can run high.
At our first meet of the season against the Minnesota Gophers our nerves were what got the best of us. There is no question that this years' team has an exceptional amount of talent and the difficulty in each routine is top notch, but with routines ready and stress levels high it now comes down to learning how to control the nerves and adrenaline in competition. With that said, this weeks' practice will be held as a series of "mini meets" to try to imitate the pressure of routines while being in front of judges. I definitely believe that this is exactly what our team needs before we head to our next meet against UCLA.
We are all looking forward to being out on the competition floor again; only this time we will have one meet under our belt and the experience of competition that we need to really prove how great of a team we are. Everyone has been working really hard in the gym and we are all focused on hitting routines when it counts and with the support of our teammates behind us as we are all ready to get out there again and compete like the team that we know we are.
