Arizona senior forward Anna Chappell was recently elected vice chair of the national Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
"We’re really excited to have Anna in this position," said Vanessa Fuchs, Assistant Director of Membership Services at the NCAA. "She’s done a lot on the committee and she’s fantastic to work with."
As vice chair, Chappell will lead committee meetings and encourage dialogue between committee members, assist the committee with coming to resolution of issues, work with NCAA staff liaisons to develop the committee meeting agenda and serve as the committee’s media contact. She will also edit and produce the SAAC newsletter for distribution three times each academic year. In addition, Chappell will attend all Division I Management Council meetings, provide a full and accurate report of the committee’s work to the Management Council and communicate with Management Council members between meetings when important issues arise.
Chappell is the first female representative from the Pac-10 and the first Arizona athlete ever selected to the national SAAC.
The Division I national SAAC consists of one student-athlete from each of the 31 Division I conferences. The committee reports directly to the Division I Management Council.
