The opening game of the weekend Arizona baseball series vs. California and the NCAA Softball Super Regional against Oklahoma have been suspended due to rain Friday night in Tucson.
The baseball game was suspended in the top of the second inning with California leading 1-0 with one out. The game started an hour and 10 minutes late due to a lightning delay. Arizona and California will resume play in a doubleheader Saturday tentatively scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (MST). The second game in the series will be played approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
The NCAA Softball Super Regional game was also delayed by lightning in the third inning, and then resumed play until it was suspended due to heavy rain in the top of the seventh inning with nobody out. Arizona leads Oklahoma 6-0 in the best-of-three series to determine a spot in the College World Series. Softball will resume play in the seventh inning beginning at 1 p.m. (MST), and will follow that game with its regularly scheduled television game at 2 p.m. (MST).
