TUCSON, Ariz. - Senior Amanda Wilson is 3-under par and is one shot off the pace at the 2009 Mountain View Collegiate at MountainView Golf Club.
Wilson matched her low round of the season at 71 over the opening 18 holes, equaling her total from the first day of the season at the Mason Rudolph Championships. She did one better in her second round to climb within one shot of the overall lead.
Fellow senior Marisa Smith shot 76 to open her day, then carded a 78 in the second round to finish at +10 and in a tie for 55th position. Junior Emily Mason is tied for 65th at 12-over after identical rounds of 78 while both senior Brooke Schneider and freshman Ashley Malaska finished the day at 165.
The Arizona junior varsity shot 307 in each round and share 16th position with Kansas State at +38 (614). San Jose State holds the overall lead at 5-under 571 that included a tournament-best opening round of 284 on the par-72, 6,263-yard track.
The tournament comes to a close on Sunday morning as all 18 teams will go off to a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. (MST). The Wildcats will start on the back nine between holes 14 and 16.
