TUCSON - Top-ranked Arizona (49-3, 13-2) made the most of seven hits -- knocking three over the fence -- to put most of its numbers on the scoreboard in beating No. 12 Oregon, 5-0, Friday night before a crowd of 1,411 at Hillenbrand Stadium.

Meantime, Wildcat pitching ace Alicia Hollowell scattered four hits and struck out nine in improving her record to 36-2. The Ducks fell to 37-15 overall and 9-7 in league play.

UA third baseman Jackie Coburn found her stroke and led off the third inning with her first home run since Feb. 29 -- and her 11th of the year -- to give Arizona a 1-0 lead. She had gone 70 at-bats in games since the home run against Stanford on Valentine's Day.

Second baseman Samantha Quintero led off the UA fifth with her fourth home run of the year to give the Cats an insurance run and ignite a four-run rally.

Coburn followed with a single and two batters later leadoff hitter Caitlin Lowe socked her fourth home run of the year to the opposite field in left to make it 4-0 and chase Oregon starter Amy Harris (5-3).

Autumn Champion slapped a single over relief pitcher Lindsey Kontra's glove, and after Kontra struck out a batter, Mackenzie Vandergeest doubled to left field to drive in Champion and make it 5-0.

Hollowell struggled a bit with her control, hitting two batters and walking two, but didn't give up a hit until UO centerfielder Suzie Barnes beat out an infield single to third to lead off the fifth. Ducks first basemnan Beth Boskovich singled through the left side in the sixth and second baseman Erin Goodell singled to lead off the Oregon seventh.

After Goodell's hit, Jenn Poore singled to left, but Champion gunned down Goodell at the plate for the second out and Hollowell got a ground out for the final out.
