Arizona Returns 10 Swimmers for Finals Competition

Minneapolis, Minn. - The Arizona women’s swimming team completed the final day of preliminary action this afternoon, qualifying a total of 10 athletes to compete in six events during tonight’s finals competition that will begin at 7 p.m. (CST).

 

                Freshman Caitlin Iversen was the first Wildcat to qualify for the 200 back championship finals, finishing fourth overall with a time of 1:55.07 and lassmate Andrea Boritzke qualified for the consolation finals of the event, finishing 12th (1:56.50).

 

                Senior Lacey Nymeyer, who took the 200 free crown in last night’s competition, posted a first place seed in the 100 free with a school record breaking time of 47.50. Sophomore Anna Turner was part of a three-way tie between Stanford’s Brooke Bishop and Tennessee’s Christine Magnuson for 10th place with a time of 49.06.

 

                In the 200 breast, junior Jacquelyn Craft finished fifth overall with a personal best time of 2:11.35, while freshman Annie Chandler finished 10th with a time of 2:12.50.

 

                Senior Whitney Myers finished with a fifth-place seed for tonight’s 200 fly finals with a time of 1:56.16.

 

                In the final event of the day, the 400 free relay team of sophomore Lindsey Kelly, sophomore Taylor Baughman, sophomore Lara Jackson and junior Lacey Nymeyer finished fourth overall with a time of 3:16.63.
