TUCSON -- After a 6-0 start to its season, which included a comeback win over nationally-ranked Northwestern, Arizona Softball was placed at No. 2 in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball opening week polls.
The ranking is the highest for the program since it was ranked No. 1 in the 2008 preseason poll, coming off its second straight national championship and eighth overall.
On tap this weekend is a three-game set with No. 6/5 Missouri, who also jumped up in the rankings after taking two of three from Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The Tigers advanced to the Women's College World Series in 2009. Hillenbrand Stadium will play host to a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon, and a single game on Sunday at noon.
