TUCSON ˇ?Sam Banister found several ways to drive in?runs and help lead Arizona to a 8-0 victory over New Mexico on Saturday night at Hillenbrand Stadium in the second game of a three-game series.

?

Stacie Chambersˇ? sixth home run of the year, a two-run shot to left center, brought in the eighth run in the five-inning game in walk-off fashion.

?

A couple of long balls put Arizona on the board early. Brittany Lastrapes hit her third leadoff home run of the year to open UAˇ?s first inning, and after one out, Banister knocked her third of the season to stake the Cats to a 2-0 lead.

?

Katie Gilmore of New Mexico (13-7) hit a two-out triple down the right field line to give New Mexico a shot at a run in the top of the second, but Lindsey Sisk got Ashley Allen to foul out to third. Samantha Hughes singled and stole second in the third, but Sisk again got out of trouble with a popup and ground ball.

?

The Wildcats (17-5) added to their lead with one hit in the third. Lastrapes singled, moved up on Lauren Schutzlerˇ?s infield out and moved to third on a wild pitch. Banisterˇ?s grounder to short brought her in for the third run.

?

In the fourth, Gabriela Parra doubled with one out, but Analise Rubalcava and Gilmore both flied out to strand the third base runner in scoring position for the Lobos.

?

After Lastrapes and Shutzler singled in the fifth, Banister dropped a bloop single into left field to score Lastrapes from second, and Jenae Leles followed with a two-run triple over a reaching Parra in right field to make it 6-0. Chambers followed with her home run off reliever Maelyn Machac to end the game.

?

Sisk earned her ninth victory against one defeat. She scattered three hits and struck out four, walking none. Kelly Ninemire (8-4) took the loss. She gave up seven runs, all earned.

?

The two teams complete the three-game series at 12 noon Sunday.

NOTES... Sisk's ninth victory compares with UA ace Taryne Mowatt's freshman season in 2005, when she was 8-1 behind No. 1 pitcher Alicia Hollowell... Sisk lowered her ERA to 0.62... The three home runs in the game gave Arizona 43 for the year, not quite two per game. The annual national leader usually checks in around the 1.3 mark... UA pitchers have given up only four four-baggers this year... Lastrapes improved her average to .405, tied for the team lead with Lauren Shutzler, who moved up in the batting order to the No. 2 spot for this game. Lastrapes onbase percentage of .494 is No. 2 behind Laine Roth's .528 in 15 games played... Lastrapes leads the team in run production with 45 -- 27 scored and 18 driven in, one ahead of Jenae Leles' 44 -- 22 runs and 22 RBI...
