TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona softball team shut out the Arizona State Sundevils, 6-0, at Farrington Stadium in Tempe on Friday night, in front of a record-breaking crown of 1,663. Alicia Hollowell stretched her unbeaten streak to 26 games with the victory, which continued the Cats' undefeated Pac-10 run of 3-0 and saw Arizona's season record improve to 39-1.

Arizona got on the board early, scoring a run in the top of the first. Caitlin Lowe led off with a bunt single to second, and advanced to third on consecutive walks to Wendy Allen and Mackenzie Vandergeest. Kristie Fox came to the plate with the bases loaded and knocked a single to center, scoring Lowe. ASU threatened in the bottom half of the inning with one out, but Autumn Champion ran down a fly ball by Keri Pulcifer in foul territory and Hollowell struck out Sharee Zaleski to end the inning

Hollowell retired eight batters in a row, six by strikeout, leading into the top of the fourth. With the Cats still leading by one, Fox knocked a homer over the right field wall to give Arizona some breathing room.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Sundevils had runners on the corners with one out. Hollowell fanned ASU shortstop Kristin Crenshaw and catcher Heidi Knabe for her ninth and 10th strikeouts of the game, stranding two runners and leaving ASU scoreless.

The Wildcats led off the fifth with a bunt single by Crystal Farley and a walk to Lowe. Champion put down a bunt to third, advancing both runners on the fielder's choice. Allen reached on a fielder's choice, but Farley was put out at home on the play. Vandergeest popped out, and Fox came to the plate. Boasting all the RBIs in the game, Fox knocked a bloop single into center, scoring Lowe and Champion and putting her RBI total for the night at four.

Arizona put another two runs on the board in the sixth, when Sundevil errors allowed Allyson VonLiechtenstein, pinch running for Schultz, and Farley to score, putting the Cats up, 6-0.

The Wildcat softball team will be in action again Saturday, April 10th, at 7 p.m. at ASU's Farrington Stadium.
