Arizona Interim Head Coach Russ Pennell
"I was really proud of my guys tonight and how they fought back. They tried to stop UAB's three point shooting, but unfortunately we just couldn't get it."
"It's really disappointing, and our guys took it very hard. Losses like this cause them to be more serious at practice so they don't have to go through that again."
"We can learn some lessons from this. We have to start thinking about the next game and getting ready to go."
"They are a very good team with lots of experience. They're as tough as what we'll face all season."
On No. 43 Jordan Hill
"Jordan was incredibly aggressive tonight. He was all over the glass, fighting for every ball. He was just outstanding tonight."
Junior Forward Chase Budinger
On the final play of the game
"We have to look at the positives. We fought back. We were down eight with five minutes to play, and we fought back. We did really well on the defensive end. We've been focusing a lot on defense. We still have to get better, but I thought we did well tonight in the second half. We have to improve our man to man and not let anyone get past us. Like I said, this is the type of the game where you can't look at the negatives. Don't look at the last 25 seconds. We have to look at all that we did well. We fought back and played extremely hard the last eight minutes of the game."
On how the younger players may handle the loss
"Their confidence might be a little down, so it's the older guys job to try and bring it back up. We have to get them ready to play."
Freshman Guard Kyle Fogg
On the foul he committed with 25 seconds left
"I got caught up in the moment. I should have been focused on just playing hard defense, but I fouled because that is what I was initially supposed to do. Luckily he missed the free throw."
