Women's Tennis Begins Fall Regionals In San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Arizona women’s tennis team sent five players to compete in the annual ITA Fall Regionals co-hosted by San Diego State and The University of San Diego.


In the singles bracket, Juliette Mavroleon defeated Hawaii’s Chloe Bihag 6-1, 6-0 in the round of 64. In the round of 32, Mavroleon fell to UCLA’s ninth-seeded Tracy Lin 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.


Fellow Wildcat Jessie Rochefort took on UC Riverside’s H.R. Espiritu and won 1-6, 6-1, 6-4. In the round of 32, Rochefort was defeated by San Diego State’s Alesya Vidov 6-2, 7-6.


Junior Kasia Jakolew started off with a win against Cal State Northridge’s Sarah Koudouzian 6-0, 6-2. She then fell to Pepperdine’s eleventh-seeded Silvia Kosakowski

7-6, 6-4.


Sophomore Camelia Todorova fell to San Diego’s Helene Linstrand 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Todorova will play in the consolation round today.



Doubles pairs, Jakowlew-Rochefort and Mavroleon-Todorova had first round byes and will begin play today.


Competition will continue through Sunday Oct. 24. 2005.
