TUCSON - The Arizona men's golf team is tied for sixth at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate after two rounds of play, fifteen strokes off the lead. Eric Oja and Trent Redfern sit in the top-10 with 18 holes to play.

Arizona shot a 591 (+15) in the first two rounds, tying for sixth with Baylor. The Cats and the Bears trail leader North Texas by those 15 strokes, as the Mean Green set the pace, playing the average through two rounds.

Arizona was led by freshman Eric Oja. The Sandevik, Sweden native is tied for seventh at even-par. Trent Redfern, competing as an individual, joins Oja in the top-10; the sophomore is one-over and tied for ninth. Jonathan Khan rebounded nicely from a first-round 78 (+6) with a 70 (-2) in the second; the senior is tied for 23rd at four-over. Tarquin MacManus is five-over and tied for 29th. Philip Bagdade shot back-to-back rounds of 75 (+3) to put himself in a tie for 35th. Freshman Sean Jones is tied for 84th in his first tournament in the lineup. Competing as individuals, Ben Esparza is tied for 59th and Juan Pablo Hernandez is tied for 70th.

The course played tough on the first day of competition, evident by the zero teams in green numbers. North Texas was an exception to the rule in the second round, however, as it erased the seven-over score it posted in round one with a 281 (-7) in the second round to grab the lead; the only other under-par round was Pepperdine's 286 (-2) second.

Host New Mexico sits four strokes behind North Texas and two strokes ahead of Pepperdine, ranked first in the country by Golfstat. San Diego State is fourth at seven-over. BYU rounds out the top five; the Cougars are 12-over.

Individually, Pepperdine's Andrew Putnam leads the tournament at an amazing ten-under. Carlos Ortiz of North Texas is three-shots back. San Diego State's Alex Kang, the first round leader, is in third at four-under. Josh Jones is the second North Texas golfer in the top-four; Jones is three-under. Zac Blair of BYU and Colin Featherstone of San Diego State are tied for fifth, one shot under par.

The third and final round will be held tomorrow, Oct. 2. The William H. Tucker Intercollegiate is held at the UNM Championship Course, a par 72, 7,566 yard layout.
