TUCSON - Junior Richard Morrison was named the College Football Performance Awards National Punt Returner of the Week and sophomore running back Ka'Deem Carey was named Honorable Mention Running Back of the Week, it was announced on Sunday.
Morrison's 63-yard punt return for a score in the third quarter was his longest career return and UA's first punt return TD since Bug Wright's 86-yard scoot against Washington State on Nov. 7, 2009. The Wildcats are one of just four Pac-12 schools to return a punt for a score this season. Morrison now ranks No. 4 in the Pac-12 and 26th nationally in punt return yardage per game.
Carey surpassed the 100-yard barrier in the first half with 22 carries for 109 yards. It was his third-straight 100-yard game (fifth of the season and fifth of his career). Carey finished by tying his career high with 29 totes for a new personal-best 172 yards. Carey's one-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter was his sixth over the last three games. Carey tied Trung Canidate (1999) with 11 rushing scores in a season, the fourth-most in school history. Carey's 172 rushing yards broke his career-best of 147 set against Toledo on Sept. 1 earlier this year.
The Wildcats welcome No. 10 USC to Arizona Stadium on Sat., Oct. 27 at 12:30 p.m. The game will air live on ABC/ESPN2. Tickets are available at the McKale Center Ticket office, by visiting ArizonaWildcats.com or by calling 520-621-2287 or 1-800-452-CATS.
