TUCSON - The No. 29-ranked Arizona Wildcat women's tennis team is set to host No. 8 UCLA on Fri., at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
Last weekend, the Cats (15-6, 2-3 Pac-10) traveled to battle No. 10 California in Berkley. In doubles play, Arizona was edged on both courts, dropping the doubles point. With the Golden Bears in the lead 2-0 the match entered singles play. The Wildcats were edged on all five courts and lost the match 7-0. Despite the loss the Wildcats climbed one spot in the ITA rankings from No. 30 to No. 29. The Cats do not have any ranked players at this time.
The UCLA Bruins (15-5, 5-1 Pac-10) traveled to Washington to play the Cougars and Oregon to battle the Ducks. In Wash., UCLA picked up the doubles point by winning two of three matches. In singles action, the Bruins won on all six courts to blank the Cougars. Against Oregon, UCLA won all three doubles matches to pick up the doubles point. With the 1-0 lead the Bruins went on to win on five of six courts in singles play to win the match 6-1. The Bruins have five ranked singles players and two ranked doubles teams. In singles play, Noelle Hickey is ranked No. 44, McCall Jones is ranked No. 58, Andrea Remynse is ranked No. 61, Courtney Dolehide is ranked No. 90 and Pamela Montez is ranked No. 112. In doubles Dolehide and Remynse make up the No. 13 ranked team and Hickey and Jones make up the No. 27 ranked team.
The match is set to be played at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center in Tucson Ariz., at 1:30 p.m. MT on Fri., April 8.
