TUCSON, Ariz. - Although Arizona obtained two more first-place finishes than UCLA, they could not hold on for victory Saturday in Los Angeles. The women swimmers and divers fell 157-141 in the dual.

Senior Chelsey Salli, junior Margo Geer, and freshman Bonnie Brandon had two first-place finishes apiece to lead the Wildcats. Salli took the 100 and 200 breast, swimming to times of 1:01.65 in the 100 and 2:13.71 in the 200. Geer won a pair of freestyle sprints. She won the 50 free in 22.88, and the 100 free in 48.55. Brandon picked up victories in the 500 free and 200 IM, swimming to times of 4:51.56 in the 500 free and 2:02.25 in the 200 IM.

Other individual winners for Arizona include senior Lauren Smart and freshman Megan Lafferty. Smart swam to a 1:58.51 victory in the 200 back, and Lafferty secured a win in the 100 fly with her time of 54.30.

The Wildcats also attained a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:41.39. The winning team included freshman Emma Schoettmer, junior Grace Finnegan, Smart, and Lafferty.

The Arizona divers will compete next in the Arizona Diving Invite at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center on Friday, Nov 16. The women swimmers will face off against Boise State the very next day, on Saturday Nov. 17.
