SEATTLE, Wash.--The Arizona women's soccer team lost their conference opener 4-1 to the University of Washington Friday, night in Seattle, Wash.

Freshman Jazmin Ponce scored Arizona's (4-6-2, 0-1-0 Pac-10) lone goal in the 32nd minute of play. For her third goal of the season, Ponce took a feed from sophomore Ariel Boulicault, broke through the defense to go one on one with Washington GK Jorde LaFontaine-Kussmann, and sent the ball to the left side of the net.

Ponce, and fellow freshman Ana Montoya led the team with four shots each, followed by senior Macke Mutz with three. Boulicault, and freshman Shannon Heinzler also made took shot on the evening.

For Washington (8-3-1, 1-0-0 Pac-10), freshman Lindsay Elston scored the game winner in the 58th minute of play off a cross from junior Kelli Stewart.

In goal, junior GK Ashley Jett grabbed five saves along with the four goals against.

Washington led Arizona 16-13 in shots, and for on-goal attempts the Huskies also led 9-2.

Up next, the Wildcats head to Pullman, Wash. to take on Washington State on Sunday, October 10 at noon.
