As the 2010-11 Arizona Wildcat women's basketball preseason practices approach, third-year head coach Niya Butts sat down for a quick Q&A about life, coaching and basketball.

Q. What was your favorite off-season/non-basketball related trip this year?

A. A five-day cruise with a great group of people (The Bahamas!!!).

Q. What is your favorite home-cooked meal and by whom?

A. Wow, I have way too many favorite home-cooked meals to name! (I eat a lot...lol). Okay, okay... I will give you one of them ... fried fish and grits. (My mom can throw down).

Q. What was your favorite part of going back to Americus High School to see your jersey retired?

A. Getting a chance to say thank you to everyone that had an impact on my life during those years.

Q. When you were playing at Tennessee, what was your favorite arena/venue to play in? Why?

A. I like playing at home (Thompson-Boling Arena) because we had great fan support.

Q. What's the last movie you saw in the theater or purchased on DVD?

A. The Town (in the theater).

Q. If you could have dinner with any three people, who would you choose and why?

A. Kyra "LZ" Elzy, LaShonda "Wilt" Tucker, and Trena "LB" Anderson ... they are three of my best friends in the world and we need to catch up on the time we missed because we didn't grow up together.

Q. If you weren't a basketball coach, what area would you pursue as a profession?

A. Something in law enforcement.

Q. Who is the one family member you talk to the most?

A. My mom.

Q. What item can't you live without: cell phone, DVR or air conditioning?

A. DVR.

Q. What's your favorite lunch spot in Tucson?

A. Grimaldi's.

Q. Where do you go/what do you do to relax and de-stress?

A. Watching a good movie works for me.

Q. Is there one TV show you can't miss?

A. Law and Order SVU.

Q. Who's your favorite sports reporter/TV analyst?

A. Kara Lawson (friend/and college teammate).

Q. Is there a 2010-11 basketball trip or game you are most looking forward to?

A. ALL of them.

Q. What is one message you stress to your team daily?

A. No Excuses!!!

Q. What is one thing about you that most people don't know?

A. My favorite color is PINK!

Q. Do you have any fears or dislikes?

A. I don't like onions or mayo!!!

Q. How many Facebook friends do you have?

A. 678.

Q. Who is your favorite non-basketball collegiate or professional athlete?

A. Roy Jones, Jr.

Q. What's your favorite store to shop in?

A. Walmart.

Q. What's the one snack or meal you can't resist?

A. Walnut brownies (the edges ... lol).

Q. Do you prefer sweet or salty snacks?

A. Salty.

Q. What's the first concert you ever attended?

A. Well, the first concert that I actually enjoyed from start to finish was Maxwell in 2009.
