Taylor Advances to Singles Finals of Pac-10 Indoors

SEATTLE - Arizona sophomore Brooke Taylor advanced to the Flight IV singles final at the 2000 Women's Pacific-10 Conference Indoor Tournament in Seattle this weekend. After winning her first two matches at the tournament, she lost to Oregon's Adeline Arnaud, 6-3, 6-3, in the finals Sunday.

Freshman Uzma Khan advanced to the semifinals of the Flight II singles. Khan, ranked 100th in the nation, beat Cal's Morisa Yang and Washington State's Melissa Pine. Khan lost in the semifinals to Ilona Kordonskaya of Washington, 6-2, 6-4.

The Arizona doubles team of sophomore Lindsay Blau and junior Michelle Gough, ranked eighth in the nation, won its first match of the tournament, but lost in the quarterfinals to eventual champion Allison Bradshaw and Celana McCoury of Arizona State, 8-4.

Gough won the consolation bracket of the Flight II Singles, beating ASU's Kerry Giardino in the final, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

The Wildcats return to action Jan. 21-23, when they play host to the Arizona Invitational at the Robson Tennis Center. Teams from Kansas State, New Mexico and San Diego will compete in the Invitational.
