Question: Besides the obvious athletic skills and academic qualifications, what other attributes or intangibles do you look for when you are recruiting potential players for your program?
Coach B: Another great question! When my assistant coaches and I are on the road we look for many attributes outside of their athletic and academic ability. The student-athlete must first be viewed as a team player and a leader on their respected high school and summer league teams. Other attributes we look for on the playing floor is how a player communicates and directs her teammates. This generally demonstrates that a student-athlete has a good understanding of the game, and with that there is a good chance the athlete is a leader on and off the floor. Additionally, there are numerous other items we watch for in a potential recruit such as hustling on and off the floor, the athlete's relationship with her coach and peers, along with the ability to carry out the tasks that her coach is requesting. We believe we have signed several great recruits coming in for next season that possess all of these intangibles! Go Cats!
