The Arizona football team opened its 2009 Spring Practice Schedule yesterday with a two-hour workout at the Jimenez Practice Facility.

The Wildcats ran through a variety of drills on offense, defense and special teams.

Head coach Mike Stoops met with the media earlier in the day and talked about the quarterback competition between sophomores-to-be Matt Scott, Nick Foles and Bryson Beirne.

Stoops also talked about sophomore-to-be Robert Golden's move from cornerback to safety and the emergance of a playmaker to fill the shoes of departed wide receiver Mike Thomas.

Arizona's Spring Practice runs through April 8th and will be highlighted by the annual Spring Game Saturday, April 4th.
