EUGENE, Ore. ?- The top-ranked Arizona softball team (30-4, 1-1) defeated Oregon (17-11, 0-1) in UA’s second Pac-10 game of the season.  The Wildcat victory comes one day after losing their first Pac-10 opener since 1991.

Three-time All-American Alicia Hollowell (15-1) tossed a complete-game in her first appearance since being hit in the face with a line-drive comebacker off the bat of a Texas Longhorn hitter on March 19.

Hollowell returned in dominant fashion, striking out 11 Ducks in seven innings and allowing only five hits.

The Wildcat hitters touched up UO pitchers Alicia Cook and Melissa Rice for four runs on 11 hits, and every UA starter had at least one hit.  Last week’s Pac-10 Player of the Week, Chelsie Mesa, went 2-for-4 with a double, with a pair of RBI, leading the UA offense.

UA shortstop Kristie Fox, who had two of Arizona’s five hits in Friday’s loss to Oregon State, scored a run and had an RBI.  Fox also extended her team-leading hitting streak to five games.

Up next: The Wildcats take on Oregon again tomorrow at 2 p.m. (MST), before returning home for their Pac-10 home opener against Washington next Friday at Hillenbrand Stadium.
