Junior (2005-06):  Advanced  to the first round of match play at the 2006 U.S. Amateur Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn., where he was defeated, 3 and 1, by Mark Strickland of Woodstock, Ga., after tying for 37th place during stroke play with a three-over 146 total ... An honorable mention all-Pac-10 selection ... Ranked third on the team with a 72.97 stroke average, which is easily the lowest of his career ... Seventeen of his 38 rounds played were at par or better ... Posted eight rounds in the 60s with four of those coming in his last 12 rounds played ... Finished three tournaments at par or better this season ... Has one top-10 and four top-20 finishes to his credit ... One of only three players to make all of his appearances with the varsity (Liaw, Esway) ... He was the top-finishing Wildcat at the NCAA Championships, May 31-June 3, after carding a 76-71-77-70=294 (+6) to tie for 48th place, which was his best finish at the Championships in three career appearances ... Was the hero at the 2006 NCAA West Regional, May 18-20, where he birdied Nos. 17 and 18 to erase a two-shot deficit and clinch at tie in the team standings with Florida ... Tied for 77th place at the 2004 NCAA Championships with a 73-81-76-77=307 (+27) total ... Carded a 77-75-74=226 (+10) to tie for 62nd place May 22 at the NCAA West Regional, where his third-round tally was UA’s second-best of the day ... Posted his first career top-10 finish with an eighth-place effort at the 2004 Pac-10 Championships April 28 with a four-round total of 70-70-72-77=289 (+1) in helping the Wildcats earn the team championship ... Carded his collegiate low tournament total with a 73-71-69=213 (-3) April 10 at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational to finish in a tie for 28th place which equaled his best finish of the season ... Shot a 10-over 226 to finish tied for 42nd place at the National Invitational Tournament on March 30 ... Struggled at the Windon Memorial Classic, as he tied for 69th place with a 230 (+14) total, his worst as a collegian ... Was Arizona’s top finisher at The Preview by Ping and Golfweek Sept. 23 with a 72-75=147 (+7) to tie for 34th place ... One of two freshmen to make his collegiate debut in the first varsity event of the season ... Carded a 72-81-72=225 (+9) to tie for 50th place Sept. 13 at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate ... High School:  Attended Wauconda High School and was a four-year letterwinner for coach Lee Oller ... Four-time team most valuable player ... A 2002 all-state pick that finished fourth in the 2002 Illinois state finals ... Individual medalist in 13 of 14 prep matches ... Won four career high school invitationals ... Holds nearly all WHS golf records including low nine-hole match record of 31 (-5) ... Also competed nationally on the major junior and amateur levels, collecting eight junior victories from 2000-03 to go with eight top-20 finishes ... A two-time AJGA Polo All-America selection (2002 and 2003) ... A National Junior Honor Society member ... Also attended the David Leadbetter Golf Academy and The Pendleton School.
