TUCSON, Ariz.- The sixth-ranked Arizona volleyball team stumbled for the first time this season dropping its third match of the weekend 3-0 to invitational host Louisville. The Cardinals swept the Wildcats by scores of 30-19, 30-27, 30-28. The loss drops the Wildcats to 2-1 for the season while Louisville improves to 3-0.
Serving proved to be one of the deciding factors in the match as the Cardinals came up 12 aces, while the Wildcats matched that number in service errors. UL also out-hit Arizona .364 to .260.
Individually senior Shannon Torregrosa and freshman Kim Glass posted 14 kills apiece in the loss. Lisa Rutledge was the only other Arizona player to figure in double digits with 11 kills.
Invitational MVP Sonja Percan led the Cardinal attack with 18 kills on .382 hitting.
Seniors Rutledge and Laurie Gardner, who finished the match with 36 assists and six digs, were named to the all-invitational team.
Arizona will have to bounce back from the loss quickly as it plays host to second-ranked Nebraska, No. 8 Pepperdine and New Mexico next weekend in the Wildcat Classic in McKale Center.
