Women's tennis has early finish at tournament

On the second day of play at the ITA West Regional Tournament, hosted by San Diego State and University of San Diego, the Wildcats only won two of nine games played.

After defeating Pepperdine's Anamika Bhargava 6-3, 6-3, freshman Sarah Landsman lost to Alison Ramos 6-3, 6-3 in the round of 16.

Senior Danielle Steinberg lost to USC's Alison Ramos 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 in the round of 32, and in the same round, freshman Deborah Castany lost to Arizona State's Nadia Abdala 6-1, 6-0.

Also in the round of 32, junior Ariane Masschelein lost to San Diego State's Holly Bagshaw 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.

In singles consolation, after defeating University of San Diego's Justine Perl 6-1, 1-6, 10-6 in the second round, sophomore Jane Huh fell to UC Santa Barbara's Natalia Lozano 7-6, 6-4.

In doubles play, Steinberg and Huh fell to San Diego State's Roxanne Ellison and Sierra Ellison 8-3 and Landsman and Masschelein fell to Hawaii's Alyssa Nafarrete and Natasha Zorec 8-4.

The Wildcats last event on the fall schedule is the San Diego Invitational starting Friday, November 7th.
