TUCSON--The Wildcat soccer team lost in the final match of the Marriott University Park Tournament to Rutgers 3-0 Sunday night.

Red-shirt senior Devon Wharf had two saves on the night, but Rutgers managed to get three shots by her, two in the first period, and one in the second.

The match was extremely physical, with Rutgers, now 5-1-1 committing 11 fouls, to Arizona's, now 2-4-1, 8 fouls.

On the night, Arizona made eight total shots, with 4 attempts on the goal, but Rutgers GK Erin Guthrie was able to catch them all, including a header off an Arizona free kick that came within two feet to the goal.

"It's ironic that everything we tried to do tonight, Rutgers was able to accomplish." Said head coach Dan Tobias, "We knew that there was no way they were going to go 0-2 on the weekend, and they came out and pounced. I can't fault our effort, but we have to stop letting opposing teams take our errors and turn them into goals. We didn't handle their pressure well, and had too many turnovers."

"There were some good moments tonight, but there weren't enough. It's not easy to learn the lessons we learned tonight, but it's a necessary step for us. We will bounce back from this."

In the morning match between San Diego and Brown, San Diego's Natalie Vinti made the only goal of the game, bringing the Toreros ahead 1-0.

Vinti was voted tournament MVP for both offense and defense.
