TUCSON, Ariz.- New Mexico finished off their dominance of the NIT, held at Tucson National, a par 72, 7,094 yard course, Monday, cruising to a seven stroke win over host Arizona. The victory was largely thanks to Nick Geyer, who took home the individual title, shooting 207 (-9).

New Mexico shot an 850 (-14) for the tournament, seven shots better than runner-up Arizona. Despite the best third round of any team Monday, the Cats' strong finish came up seven strokes short of earning their first victory of the season. TCU shot an 861 (-3) for the tournament and finished third. UNLV, which started the day only three strokes off the pace and looked as if it were the only team capable of staying with New Mexico, struggled to a 300 (+12) in the third round, dropping them into a fourth place finish. California used a solid day, 292 (+4) to boost them from seventh to fifth.

Nick Geyer had at least a share of the lead after rounds one and two and didn't let up Monday. Geyer finished alone on top of the leader board by two strokes. James Sacheck of TCU finished second. Spots three and four went to a pair of golfers from the hosting Arizona Wildcats. Philip Bagdade, competing for the "B" team, finished third at 210 (-6) and Jonathan Khan finished fourth at 212 (-4). Bagdade entered the day tied for first with Geyer. A stroke behind Khan was a three way tie for fifth between Kent State's Brett Cairns, TCU's Johan de Beer and California's Eric Mina.
