Arizona vs. Oregon State

Post-Game Quotes

Arizona Head Coach Joan Bonvicini: “This was not a good game for us. We didn’t play with the intensity that we should have as a group, and we’re just not shooting with a lot of confidence.”

We got down and we didn’t have a lot of leadership on the floor, and that’s not to take anything away from Oregon State. They played hard and made their free throws down the stretch.”

“We are a better team in so many ways [than we played tonight], but we’re just not showing it.”

Senior guard Natalie Jones: “I think that as a team a lot of us are frustrated. We have good practices. Even though we lost two games in Los Angeles we still felt we were a good team.”

On Mandy Close’s performance

“She just penetrated and dished. She played how a point guard should play. It was something we knew she was capable of doing.”

“If we shot 24 percent, we need to get in the gym and shoot more shots and just continue to get better.”

“After the game you get mad, but the next day we need to bring it again and keep fighting.”

“It’s hard, especially at home. This is our house and when teams come in and beat us, we take it more personal.”

“Oregon State capitalized on their open shots. They got the ball underneath, shot better and did the little things and came out with the win.”

Sophomore forward Ch?© Oh: “They were getting a lot of open looks and we weren’t executing on offense.”

“We need to be able to put two halves together.”

“It is frustrating. We were putting in a lot of hard work and it is frustrating to keep losing.”

Oregon State Head Coach LaVonda Wagner: “We did a good job executing on both ends. Arizona was able to out-rebound us on the defense side, but we were able to put up some stops and shot real well at the free throw line.”

On winning her first Pac-10 game

“Any win is good, especially on the road. Arizona is a great team and played real hard.”

On Mandy Close’s performance

She definitely stepped up on both ends of the court. She played through the pain, and had a career high tonight.”
