TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona's McKale Center will host ESPN's College Basketball GameDay driven by State Farm on Saturday, Jan. 28, when the Wildcats host Washington.
It marks the first time the network will bring its GameDay set to Tucson since debuting the format in January 2005, and just the second time that the conference has hosted the hardwood event. Tucson is one of eight on-campus sites scheduled to host the ESPN crew during the 2011-12 basketball campaign.
The full day of broadcasting from UA's homecourt includes a morning show, SportsCenter look-ins, and a one-hour pregame show in advance of the in-game broadcast, scheduled for 5 p.m. MST (7 p.m. EST).
"We are both honored and excited to host ESPN's College GameDay here in Tucson," said Arizona head coach Sean Miller. "We recognize that ESPN paid our program and our fans a tremendous compliment by choosing us to be a part of their GameDay experience. It's now our goal to have the best college basketball environment that ESPN hosts all season long. This is a challenge that I know our fans will conquer!"
Arizona returns three starters and 11 letterwinners from last season's club that posted a 30-8 record, won the Pac-10 regular season championship and advanced to the NCAA West Regional final.
