TUCSON, Ariz.- The 19th-ranked Arizona volleyball team swept Oregon 3-0 in Eugene, Ore., Thursday evening. The 30-19, 30-18, 30-28, win improved Arizona's record to 9-7 overall and 4-4 in the Pac-10. For the Ducks (10-12, 0-8 Pac-10) it was the 29th-straight loss to a Pac-10 team.
Reigning Pac-10 Player of the Week Kim Glass was spectacular again for the Wildcats. The freshman outside hitter tallied a match-high 20 kills on .410 hitting and also added 10 digs and two service aces. Thursday's match was the fifth straight that Glass has posted 20 more kills.
Teammate Lisa Rutledge was the only other Arizona player to figure in double digit kills in the match. The senior finished with 12 kills on 25 swings and just one error for a .440 hitting percentage. Classmate Shannon Torregrosa chipped in with nine kills, two aces and 10 digs in the win.
As a team the Wildcats hit a season high .374. Arizona had 54 kills on 115 attempts with just 11 errors. The Wildcats out-blocked the Ducks 10 to 4 and out-dug them 50 to 42.
Arizona returns to action on Friday at 7 p.m. against Oregon State in Corvallis.
