The Arizona women's tennis team was impressive winning five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches in their first dual meet of the season. In the No. 1 singles spot, Wildcat freshman Maja Mlakar defeated Kansas State's Alena Jecminkova, 6-3, 6-4. UA sophomore Debbie Larocque ousted Kansas State's Petra Sedlmajerova, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles action Mlakar and Larocque won their match against Kansas State's Jecminkova and Andrea Cooper, 8-4.
In other singles play Arizona sophomore Perrine Pernin topped Kansas State's Maria Rosenberg, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. UA senior Brooke Taylor tripped up Kansas State's Andrea Cooper in a come from behind victory, 5-7, 6-0, 6-0. Kansas State's Paulina Castillejos fell to Arizona freshman Marie-Pier Pouliot in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
UA freshman Dianne Hollands and Pernin teamed up in doubles to beat Kansas State's duo of Paulina Castillejos and Maria Rosenberg, 8-5.
The No. 51 ranked Wildcats continue action tomorrow against the University of San Diego, ranked No. 53.
