Women's Golf Completes First Round at Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES, Calif. ?- The Arizona women’s golf team completed the first round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in fifth place.  The Wildcats shot a 301 (+17) in the opening round, four strokes behind the tournament leader Pepperdine which finished the day with a score of 297 (+13).


Two Wildcats stand in the top-10 after the first round of play.


Sophomore Adriana Zwanck is in second place after carding a one-under par 70.  The Madrid, Spain native is only stoke behind leader Jayvie Agojo of Pepperdine.


Junior Alison Walshe is close behind Zwanck, completing the first round with a two-over par 73 to stand in a tie for seventh.


Junior Mary Jacobs is tied for 27th after carding a 77 (+6) in the first round.


Senior Rachel Gavin is tied for 58th with a first round total of 81 (+10).


Freshman Emily Mason, competing in her first tournament as a Wildcat, is tied for 69th after carding an 84 (+13).


The tournament is being held at the Palos Verdes Golf Club, which is home to a par-71, 5,912 yard course.


The tournament continues tomorrow, with a second round tee time of 9:00am.
