Arizona Women?s Golf in Second at UNLV Invitational

HENDERSON, Nev. ?- The Arizona women's golf team stands in second after 18-holes on Tuesday in Henderson, Nev.


The Wildcats shot a 38-over-par 614 to trail tournament leader Southern California by 13 strokes after the Women of Troy shot 25-under-par 614. Pepperdine (619) and UNLV (621) are in third and fourth, respectively. Tennessee and Michigan both shot 48-over-par 624 to tie fifth.


Individually, junior Cassandra Kirkland leads the Wildcats in second place, after shooting a 4-over-par 148. Additionally, junior Lani Elston joins Kirkland in the top-ten, by shooting 152 (+8) to tie for sixth with two other golfers.


Senior Mar Garcia shot a 76 (+4) in today’s second round. Junior Whitney Welch is tied for 29th at 14-over-par 158. Senior Miriam Kraschinski is tied for 39th, after she shot a 17-over-par 161.


Competing as an individual for Arizona, sophomore Rachel Gavin is tied for 66th at 167 (+23).


The Wildcats will tee off tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. (PST) in the final round. The tournament is being contested at Black Mountain Country Club, Par 72 over a 6,009-yard layout.
