Women's Golf in Fifth at Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown

HENDERSON, Nev. ?- The University of Arizona women’s golf team is in fifth place after the first round of the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate Showdown.  The Wildcats shot a seven-over 295, three strokes behind the tournament leader Arizona State which finished the day with a four-over 292.

 

Two Wildcats are within the top 20 after the first round of play.

 

Junior Alison Walshe is tied for fourth after carding a one-under 71 through the first round.  The Westford, Mass., product collected a team high four birdies in the opening round, and eagled the third hole. 

 

Sophomore Amanda Wilson completed the day one stroke behind her Arizona teammate, shooting an even 72 to tie for 11th place.

 

Junior Mary Jacobs and sophomore Adriana Zwanck are tied for 45th after totaling a 76 (+4) on Monday.

 

Senior Rachel Gavin carded a six-over 78 in the first round to tie for 62nd after the first round of play.

 

The tournament continues tomorrow, with a second round tee time of 8:30am.
