In singles play at the 2009 ITA Southwest Regionals, sophomore Natasha Marks lost to UCLA's Yasmin Schnack 6-4, 6-1, and will go up against UCLA's Andrea Remynse on Monday to decide third and fourth place.
The Nottingham, England native started competition with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Cal State Northridge's Nina Jaworowski in the round of 64. In the round of 32, Marks defeated Arizona State's Michele Brycki 6-1, 6-1 before taking down Pepperdine's Anamika Bhargava 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 16. In the quarterfinal round Marks went head to head against Arizona State's Micaela Hein and won 7-5, 5-7, 6-2.
In doubles, Marks and senior Claire Rietsch lost to UCLA's Remynse and Schnack 8-4 in the final round.
The Wildcat pair started off with a first round bye before taking down Cal State Fullerton's Malorie De la Cruz and Tiffany Mai 8-3. In the round of 16, they defeated Arizona State's Sianna Simmons and Kelcy McKenna 8-3 before defeating UCLA's Pamela Montez and Maya Johansson 8-6 in the quarterfinals.
The Wildcats will wrap up the fall season November 13-15 at the Cal State Northridge Invitational.
