TUCSON, Ariz.- Arizona carded a 349 (-1) in the second round of the Del Walker Intercollegiate to climb the leader board after a slow start; the round was completed this morning after being suspended for darkness last night.

In the first round, the Cats shot a 353, placing them in seventh, but used a solid second round to get them back into contention.

At two over, Arizona trails leader and two-time defending-champion Colorado State by 16 strokes.  14th ranked Oregon, the only competitor ranked in Golfweek’s top 25, is in second at nine under.

Tarquin MacManus shot back-to-back rounds under par, to put him tied for eleventh place and only six shots off the pace. The sophomore sits at three under par heading into the final round.

St. Mary’s Daniel Cone shot a 131 (-9) in the first two rounds to put him at the top of the leader board individually. Cone’s teammate Robert McRae is in second after carding back-to-back 66s; McRae is at eight under. Tied with McRae is Scott Clayton of UC Riverside much thanks to his tournament-low 63 (-7) he shot in the first round.

With two players atop the leader board, St. Mary’s is in third place and is even for the tournament.

The Del Walker Intercollegiate is contested at the Virginia Country Club in Long Beach, Calif., a par 70, 6,578 yard course.

The third round will begin after a short break from action, and live updates will be available on www.golfstat.com
