TUCSON, Ariz.- The No. 10 Arizona volleyball team closed out the 20th-annual Four Points University Plaza Wildcat Classic on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Rhode Island. Game scores were 30-17, 30-26, 30-24. Arizona improved to 4-3 with the win while URI fell to 1-6 with the loss.
Although still plagued with serving problems, Arizona had little trouble with the Rams. Head coach David Rubio went deep into his bench and used a number of different lineups in the match.
Sophomore Kim Glass led all players with 11 kills and also finished with seven digs and two block assists. Classmate Bre Ladd recorded seven kills on 14 swings with no errors for a .500 hitting percentage, while also coming up with four total blocks. Junior Jolene Killough added six block assists in the win and sophomore Jennifer Abernathy chipped in with nine kills and four digs.
Arizona, which finished the Wildcat Classic with a 2-2 record will host UC Santa Barbara, American and New Mexico State next Friday and Saturday at the Four Points University Plaza Arizona Invitational.
