Throughout the Arizona Wildcat women's golf season, senior Margarita Ramos will keep a weekly blog about life and golf in the Pac-12. Check back for more updates!
Last time I talked to you we were coming off a great win here in our home turf! We recently just returned from Las Vegas where we went to play our second tournament of the season.
I was fortunate enough to have my mother come cheer for me. It was also very fun to have her there because she treated me to go see an amazing show!!!
We played a very unique/challenging golf course at Cascata. As the name suggests, it was filled with cascades from the time you entered the club house to the practice range, and obviously also on the course. It was beautiful. We played one of the hardest greens that we have played in college golf.
We were all also fortunate enough to have Butch Harmon come talk to us at the opening ceremony of the tournament. It was the first time that he ever talked to a group of women's collegiate players.
The first day we played 36 holes and Nikki Koller was leading the tournament with one over par. The second day, we only played 18 holes. When I had three holes left to finish, I looked up and was stunned to find my brother (who drove that same morning from Los Angeles) and two of my teammates from high school walking down the 16th hole. I am truly blessed to have such a supporting group of people around me!
Each Arizona player placed in the top 10 and we won the tournament again! It is challenging and, at the same time, inspiring to have such a talented team, to be able to practice with them every day and to feed of each other, off and on the course.
We're now taking the time to practice and improve our individual games before our next tournament. We play at the Battle at Rancho Bernardo and we still feel like we have a lot to prove.
Wish us luck... you can follow us in golfstat.com.
