TUCSON , Ariz. ?C Two Arizona golfers have been named as Golfweek All-Americans, announced on June 4th by the magazine.? Junior Alison Walshe was named to the second team, while fellow junior Mary Jacobs was named as an honorable mention selection.
Walshe led the team in several categories throughout the season, while also garnering three first place finishes.? The Westford, Mass., product led the Wildcats in stroke average (73.35), top 10/20 finishes (nine), low round (67), low tournament (207), and rounds at or under par (12).? Walshe claimed individual victories at the Mason Rudolph Championships, the Stanford Pepsi Invitational (tied), and the BYU Dixie Classic.? Walshe was also named as a first team All-American by the National Golf Coaches Association and was a first team selection for the Pac-10.
Jacobs also made significant contributions to the Wildcat squad throughout the 2006-07 season, including seven top 10/20 finishes and shooting nine rounds at or under par, second in both categories to Walshe.? The Godfrey, Ill.,? native also had the second lowest stroke average on the team (74.23).? Jacobs was also honored as a second team All Pac-10 selection.
Walshe and Jacobs also received Pac-10 All-Academic honors, being named as an honorable mention and first team selection, respectively.
