Three Wildcats were named to the six-woman All-Pac-10 First Team, including seniors Jenna Daniels and Jill Gomric and sophomore Cristina Baena. Two UA golfers were named to the All-Pac-10 honorable mention team, junior Christina Monteiro and freshman Julia Kraschinski.
Daniels (Bonita, Calif.) was named to the All-Pac-10 First Team for the
third consecutive year after finishing second at the Pac-10 Championships
yesterday. She has been the nation's top-ranked golfer for the past five
weeks in a row and has finished in the top-10 in each of her nine
tournaments this year. She leads the team in stroke average at 71.48 and
won two tournaments the Golf World Invitational and the Ping/ASU
Gomric (Belleville, Ill.) was named to the All-Pac-10 First Team for the second year in a row after receiving honorable mention selection in her sophomore and freshman seasons. Ranked No. 17 this week, she tied for fourth in the Pac-10 Championships and has four top-10 outings this season. Her stroke average of 73.84 is second on the team.
Baena (Pereira, Colombia) becomes a first team selection for the first time in her Arizona career and was named to the All- Pac-10 Second Team last year as a freshman. Currently the nation's ninth-ranked golfer, she has five top-10 finishes this year and placed third at the Pac-10 Championships. She won the first tournament of her career earlier this season at Rainbow Invitational in Hawaii.
Monteiro (Las Vegas, Nevada) is ranked No. 30 and had four top-20 outings this year, including two top-five finishes. Kraschinski (Whitianga, New Zealand), who is ranked No. 48 this week, tied for 14th at the Pac-10 Championships and had six top-20 finishes this season.
Arizona returns to action on May 11-13, when it competes in the NCAA West Regionals at Tempe, Ariz.
