Game Action Photos from Saturday, Sept. 27 against Yavapai

Up Next: After dispensing of visitors Yavapai and Eastern Arizona Colleges in the Desert Classic at Hillenbrand, Arizona will host the final tournament of the fall season, the Arizona Fall Classic. The tourney features six teams, including Division-I foe New Mexico.

Friday, Oct. 10 - Arizona Western, 4 p.m. (Hillenbrand Stadium, Tucson, Ariz.) Saturday, Oct. 11 - New Mexico, 5:30 p.m.; Central Arizona, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12 - Cypress, 3 p.m.; Pima, 5 p.m.

Possible Arizona Lineup: Karissa Buchanan - rf Brittany Lastrapes - lf Jenae Leles - 3b Lini Koria - c Sam Banister - dp K'Lee Arredondo - ss Laine Roth - 1b Victoria Kemp - 2b Lauren Schutzler - cf

New Mexico: Arizona defeated New Mexico twice last season, 8-1 and 8-0 in 5 innings, and held a lead in the third game before it was called due to rain, making it unofficial.

Welcome Home: Arizona Head Coach Mike Candrea will see his first live game action at Hillenbrand Stadium since last season's fall tournaments, although he was present for Arizona's match-up with the U.S. Olympic team this past February. Candrea was at the helm of the Team USA and spent the entire 2008 NCAA season on the national team's pre-Olympic tour. Most recently, Candrea missed the first fall tournament as he was conducting softball clinics in Europe.

Welcome Back to the Pac: Former University of Washington head coach Teresa Wilson was introduced as the new pitching coach for Arizona Softball on Tuesday. With 15 years of Pac-10 coaching experience and the most recent four-year stint as the skipper at Texas Tech, the former pitching All-American should give Arizona's bullpen a boost. Wilson joins Larry Ray and Amy Chellevold Hillenbrand to complete Arizona's coaching staff for the fall.

A Big Bat: Freshman catcher Lini Koria has proven that she can swing a big stick. California's all-time career home run leader added another to her personal total with a two-run drive into the power alley against Eastern Arizona. She also leads the team in hits through two games, with four. On another note, she is tied for the team lead in RBIs with Victoria Kemp (2). Look for her to share time behind the plate this weekend, though, with senior Amanda Monge as the Cats play five games in three days.

The Newbies: Through two games, three freshman own spots in the top seven in batting average. Koria's 4-for-6 weekend performance places her at second on the list; Arriola went 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored; Speedy Karissa Buchanan hit 1-for-5, but nabbed two walks to her credit.
