Dosty and U.S. Junior National Team Claim Gold

TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona volleyball freshman Whitney Dosty and the U.S. Women’s Junior National Team defeated the Dominican Republic 3-2 (25-15, 25-23, 20-25, 18-25, 15-9) in the championship match to capture the gold medal at the NORCECA Continental Women’s Junior Championships in Monterrey, Mexico.

By virtue of being the top two teams, the U.S. and Dominican Republic have now qualified for the 2007 FIVB Women’s Junior World Championships (U-20).

A 6-4 outside hitter, Dosty is ranked as the fourth-best recruit in the nation by and is expected to make an immediate contribution with the Wildcats. The team begins practice for the 2006 campaign tomorrow, Aug. 8.
