TUCSON, Ariz. - For the second year in a row, the Arizona volleyball team has been picked No. 17 overall in the CSTV (College Sports Television)/AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) preseason coaches poll, which was released today.
The Wildcats, which return five starters from last year’s squad, will face seven teams ranked in the preseason Top 25, including defending national champion and No. 3-ranked Stanford. Also on the schedule for Arizona is No. 2 Washington, No. 7 Southern California, No. 13 UCLA, No. 15 UC Santa Barbara, No. 19 California and No. 20 Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech is the first ranked team the Wildcats will face, as they host the Yellow Jackets over Labor Day weekend (Sept. 2-3) in the Four Points University Plaza Wildcat Classic.
Arizona was one of six teams from the Pacific-10 Conference in the poll. The Pac-10 is the only conference nationwide with five or more teams ranked in the Top 25. The complete poll is listed below.
