Wildcat Women Ranked in Another Preseason Poll

Tucson, Ariz. (Oct. 3) - The University of Arizona women's basketball team is preseason ranked No. 20 in the Women's Basketball News Service Poll released this week. This is the third preseason poll which has the Wildcats listed among the top 25 teams in the nation, as they were ranked No. 17 in the Lindy's Sports Annuals Top 25 and No. 23 in the Athlon Sports Top 25.

Sophomore center Shawntinice Polk was named a third team preseason All-American by the WBNS as well, adding to her growing list of preseason honors. She was also named to the Street & Smith's Preseason "Terrific Ten" list and was chosen a second team preseason All-American by Athlon Sports.

Practice starts on Saturday, Oct. 18, for the Wildcats, and they will see their first outside competition of the year in an exhibition game on Tuesday, Nov. 4, against the UMB Bankska Bystrica Slovakia club team at home.
