TUCSON - The Arizona Wildcats and the Washington Huskies will continue the Pac-10 slate of women's basketball games with a contest at 7 p.m. MT on Thurs., Jan. 20, at McKale Center.
The Arizona Wildcats and the Washington Huskies will meet for the 50th time on Thursday. Washington leads the series with the Wildcats, 32-17. The Wildcats have won three of the last four match-ups with the Huskies, including a sweep in `09 and a win at McKale in `10.
The Arizona Wildcats are 11-5 overall and 2-3 in the Pac-10. The Wildcats have three players averaging double-digit points in sophomore guard Davellyn Whyte (14.9), senior forward Ify Ibekwe (13.7) and senior forward Soana Lucet (11.8). Ibekwe leads Arizona at the glass with 9.9 rebounds per game and junior guard Shanita Arnold dishes out 5.8 assists per game.
Currently, Wildcat players lead the Pac-10 in rebounds (Ibekwe, 149, 9.9 pg) and defensive rebounds (Ibekwe, 97, 6.5 pg). As a team, the Wildcats rank in the top three in the Pac-10 in scoring offense, field goal percentage, assists, turnover margin, assist/turnover ratio and defensive rebounds.
The Washington Huskies are 7-8 overall and 2-4 in Pac-10 play. Their conference wins have come at Oregon State and vs. California. Kirsti Kingma leads the squad with 16.1 points per game. Mackenzie Argens paces the team at the glass with 6.3 boards per game.
