PROVO, UTAH - Arizona Soccer was dealt its first loss of this season by the Brigham Young Cougars on Monday, 1-0.
The Cats, now 2-1, looked to keep their undefeated streak alive but fell short in their first road trip of the year.
"The game was well within our grasp," said head coach Dan Tobias, "it's disappointing we didn't close it out."
The game's only scorer, BYU forward Kassidy Christensen, delivered a goal with 77:40 on the clock. On the assist was forward Lauren Anderson.
With three minutes left in the first half, Arizona senior forward LONDON KING netted what would have been the tying goal but had it negated seconds later because of an offside call.
Junior goalkeeper Chelsea McIntyre ended the game with six saves, but gave up her first goal of the season.
The Wildcats will "learn and move forward," said Tobias after the game, "We have a good resilient group and we'll bounce back quickly."
Arizona returns home for Friday night's game against the Weber State Wildcats. The match is set for 7 p.m. at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium.
