The Arizona women's soccer team (8-8, 1-4) was hoping to end its three game losing streak when they played the California Golden Bears (10-5-1, 3-2-1) at Edwards Stadium in Berkeley, Calif. However, the Wildcats dropped their fourth straight conference game losing 2-0.
In a game the Wildcats needed to win, the lack of offense proved to be the Wildcats down fall. The Golden Bears out shot the Wildcats 14 to 3, marking the fourth straight game the Wildcats were out shot by its opponents.
At the end of the first half the game was notched 0-0. In the second half, the game remained tie until the 57th minute when Katie Benz received a pass from Katie Oates and shot back corner and scored the games first goal. For Benz it was her second goal of the season.
The Golden Bears had a 1-0 lead until the 75th minute when Alex Morgan shot twenty yards away and put the ball in the back of the net to give the Golden Bears a 2-0 lead.
Redshirt junior Chelsea McIntyre, who had her career high in saves Friday night against Stanford, had five saves. For the season McIntyre has 87 saves.
The Wildcats will try to end its four-game losing streak when it welcomes the Oregon State Beavers on Friday October 31, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Murphy Field. Friday night will also be senior night where the Wildcats will on four players and one student assistant.
