Los Angeles, Calif. (Oct. 14) -- Despite an eight-save performance from senior goalkeeper Shannon Monti, the University of Arizona women's soccer team (3-7-1, 0-2-0 Pac-10) dropped a 2-0 decision at Southern California (7-3-1, 2-0-0 Pac-10) in Los Angeles on Sunday. The contest ended a six-game road swing for the Wildcats.
The Women of Troy jumped ahead early, logging both their goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. The Wildcats held USC scoreless for the remainder of the match but were unable to dent the net themselves.
USC out-shot Arizona, 18-3, including an 11-1 advantage in shots on-goal. Freshman forwards Candice Wilks and Cassie Daniels and senior midfielder Katie Winship registered Arizona's shots, with Wilks' being the only one on-goal.
The Wildcats finally get to return home this weekend for a pair of conference matches against the Oregon schools. Arizona faces Oregon on Friday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m., then will take on Oregon State on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played at Murphey Stadium, 15th Street & Plumer Ave.
