Women?s Golf Tied for 11th place after Round One in Tempe

The Arizona women’s golf team is tied for 11th place after the first round of the PING/ASU invitational.

 

Leading the Cats in the individual category was freshman Adriana Zwanck who shot a 69 (-3) and is tied for third place. 

 

Competing for the Wildcats as an individual was freshman Sommer Scholl who carded a 74 (+2). 

 

Junior Rachel Gavin is tied for 41st place after shooting a 76 (+4) while freshman Amanda Wilson shot a 77 (+5).  Fellow classmate Marisa Smith shot a 79 (+7) and is tied for 67th place.

 

Wildcat freshman Lauren Espinosa shot an 80 (+8) and is tied for 73rd place.  Trailing Espinosa by only one stroke was senior Cassandra Kirkland who tied for 78th place along with classmate Whitney Welch.  The senior duo carded an 81 (+9). 

 

The ASU Sun Devils led the tournament with a 283 (-5) after the first round.  UCLA followed by UNLV, Pepperdine and Tulsa round out the top five teams. 

 

The Cats will tee-off tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
