Tucson, Ariz. ?C The Arizona volleyball team earned its third-straight sweep and sixth of the season with a win over Cal State Bakersfield (3-9) in the opening match of the Four Points Sheraton Arizona Invitational on Friday morning in McKale Center.? Game scores were 30-14, 30-13 and 30-20, as the Wildcats improve to 8-2 on the season.

As a team, Arizona hit .354 (45-10-99) and finished with 13 blocks and a season-high 10 service aces.? The Wildcats also limited the Roadrunners to a .010 (24-23-102) hitting percentage.

Individually for the Wildcats, junior Randy Goodenough posted her fifth double-double of the season with a match-high 12 kills on .333 (12-3-27) hitting to go with 10 digs.? Senior Dominique Lamb posted six kills on .385 hitting (6-1-13) and a season-best 10 blocks, and junior Brittany Leonard finished with 10 digs.? Freshman Paige Weber tallied a match-high 38 assists to go with four digs and three blocks.

In her collegiate debut, freshman Stephanie Snow posted nine kills on .571 hitting (9-1-14) to go with two digs and four blocks.

Arizona set the tone early, running out to a 10-2 lead at the start of game one.? The Roadrunners cut the Wildcat lead to 17-9, but Arizona finished the game with a 13-2 scoring run to win 30-14.? UA hit .250 (13-5-32) in the match, and held CSUB to a -.219 (4-11-32) mark.

In game two, Arizona flexed some muscle behind a .481 (14-1-27) hitting percentage.? The Wildcats and the Roadrunners battled early, as the UA held an 8-4 lead.? CSUB trailed Arizona 17-13 midway before the Wildcats went on a torrid 13-0 run to end the game for a 30-13 win.

Game three was close until late, as Arizona hit .350 (18-4-40) compared to a match-high .175 (13-6-40) mark for Cal State Bakersfield.? The Roadrunners trailed by as little as four down the stretch, but a 9-3 Arizona scoring run at the end sealed the sweep.

Arizona will next face UC Irvine on Friday at 7 p.m. in McKale Center in the third match of the Four Points Sheraton Arizona Invitational.
